Mark Hamill Applauds Young Man Who Used The Jedi Way Against His Bully

Due to its continued box office domination and pop culture significance, the Star Wars franchise has quite the range of diehard fans. The OG fans have passed the franchise to their children, and now a new generation of fans has been born thanks to Disney's acquisition of the legendary property. The ppace opera has always been focused on the eternal battle of good vs evil, with concepts that really stick with young audiences. That's exactly what happened recently to a bullied student in California. Fifth grader Aiden Vazquez was met with adversity when his classmates starting physically attacking him, but never fought back because it wasn't "The Jedi way." The story has gone viral and even garnered the attention of Mark Hamill himself, who tweeted out a message to Aiden, saying:

SHOUT OUT to Aiden Vazquez for his courage & wisdom in the face of adversity. I'm so proud of you for showing that you can be a Jedi in real life. Congratulations, Aiden- The Force will be with YOU... Always!!! Your fan, mh

How sweet is that? When Mark Hamill learned the actions of his young fan, he was moved enough to take to social media. Furthermore, he reversed their roles and claimed HE was actually Aiden Vazquez's fan. The Force is clearly strong with this one.

Mark Hamill's tweet is just the latest way the Star Wars legend has continued to directly communicate with his many fans. The 66 year old actor is very active on social media, and uses it as a way to connect with all the moviegoers who love the galaxy far, far away. But he also uses it to make his voice known, whether that be in defense of The Last Jedi's Kelly Marie Tran, or to applaud a young fan for standing up to bullying in a non-violent way.

According to ABC 13, 10 year old Aiden Vazquez ended up in the hospital after the fifth grade student fell victim to extreme bullying. He was reportedly called names and punched, but refused to fight back due to the Jedi's teachings. Bullying can feel impossible and never ending, but it's clear that the Star Wars franchise has a special place in Aiden's heart. And being validated by Luke Skywalker himself will hopefully give the young student some resolve.

Stories like this help to hammer down how much the Star Wars franchise really means to people. There are years of iconography attached to George Lucas' space opera, which is why the fandom can sometimes become unhealthy. It's an ongoing conversation surrounding big blockbusters, although Kelly Marie Tran's departure from social media puts Star Wars in a spotlight.

Marvel Approached Adam McKay About Directing Guardians Of The Galaxy 3

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been on a roll in Phase Three, with every installment resulting in critical success and strong box office performance. But the future of the MCU is largely a mystery, especially when it comes to the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. James Gunn was fired by Disney back in July, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 placed on indefinite hold by the studio.

Finding a replacement director for James Gunn seems like an almost impossible task, given how much of the director/writer is infused into the franchise. There have been quite a few names tossed around by the fans, and now we know one director that has been approached by Disney: Anchorman's Adam McKay. When asked if those talks had happened he confirmed, saying:

We've talked a little bit. We were kicking around the idea of The Inhumans at one point. We're always kind of talking. I think [Kevin] Feige is just the greatest, and I think what they're doing over there is amazing.

It seems that Adam McKay is one of the directors Kevin Feige has been discussing the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise with. The House of Mouse and Marvel Studios are no doubt trying to nail down a replacement soon, as Guardians 3 was originally going to be the second movie released after Avengers: Endgame.

Adam McKay's comments from the Happy Sad Confused podcast may be a surprise to some, considering the director's career in the film industry. McKay is largely known for his work in comedy, collaborating with Will Ferrell is projects like Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers. And while the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is certainly comedic, it's also a massively expensive franchise that connects to the MCU as a whole.

On the other side of the coin, the improvisational style of acting that Adam McKay's projects often encourage might lend itself to the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. While the movies are carefully written, there is some room for improvisation on sets. For instance, Dave Bautista improvised Drax's "Why is Gamora?" in Avengers: Infinity War. The Guardians are a motley crew that lean into campiness, so Marvel could find a worse director than McKay.

Adam McKay is also having a big year as we get deeper into Awards Season. He directed the Dick Cheney biopic Vice, which has already picked up a whopping six Golden Globe nominations. Clearly he's a director who can't be pigeonholed, and taking on a franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be another way McKay can continue to move forward in his career.

The Guardians of the Galaxy will return to the MCU when Avengers: Endgame arrives in theaters on April 26th, and you can catch Vice starting on Christmas Day. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your trips to the movies in the New Year.

Why Filming Sex Scenes For Fifty Shades Freed Was So Challenging

Although Fifty Shades Freed will switch gears a little and give the fanbase a movie that is equal parts thriller and sex, filming the sex scenes was still pretty challenging. Fifty Shades Freed lead Dakota Johnson recently explained on Late Night with Seth Meyers that Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed filmed back-to-back, which meant that all of the sex scenes were filmed in close proximity to one another, as well. Per Johnson, acting sweaty and in the throes of passion when these scenes are filmed in succession can be challenging.

It was tricky because we had to go back and forth between obviously both movies. Cause' some locations would be the same and then we kind of did all of the sex scenes at the same time... We do them all back-to-back pretty much because they are in the same locations. So, you want to try and mix it up and have them not be all the same.

Yeah, that's right, Fifty and Ana have sex in a lot of the same places. There's his place, of course, which includes the Red Room. They also really like the boathouse at his parent's place. Then, there are other scenes that could be done in the same locations, like fooling around in cars and showers and more. After Fifty Shades of Grey was completed, it looks as if the production team decided it would be more advantageous to just bang through all of those scenes quickly, pun intended. It probably made sense, budget-wise, to film Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed at the same time, but it also wasn't a cakewalk for the actors.

Sex scenes are notably pretty uncomfortable. Movies do a lot to try and make them less so by only allowing the necessary people into the room, and giving actors and actresses the ability to cover their private parts. (A wee-bag, as Jamie Dornan calls it.) However, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan have to film these sorts of scenes a lot, so at this point, it's probably a little less awkward than it used to be, although Johnson has been candid previously about how she gets through filming all the sex for the movies. According to Johnson, the bigger issue is figuring out how to vary things up a bit. It takes more than whips and spreader bars to act, people.

Elsewhere during Late Night with Seth Meyers, the host touched on Christian Grey's impending marriage to Anastasia Steele, with both cracking jokes about how since Ana is married to Christian, they will soon be at a place where their relationship only has "one shade."
