Weve only got one movie on the docket this week, but its the culmination of a lot of practice with a fictitious beast over the course of nearly a decade. Get ready for How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.Just remember, I'm not reviewing these movies, but rather predicting where they'll end up on the Tomatometer. Let's take a look at This Rotten Week has to offer.

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III is back in How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, the final installment in the tutorial on dragon training. This time he and Toothless travel to another world searching out an albino dragon hottie that could unlock all of the secrets of the dragons' past and future. It looks like a petty enticing setup.

This is the third title in the How to Train Your Dragon series, with the previous two features finishing with 98% and 92% scores respectively on Rotten Tomatoes. Both were helmed by Dean DeBlois, who got the opportunity to complete his trilogy by taking the helm of The Hidden World as well. It stands to reason that this new one will be just as good as its predecessors, and the early reviews already suggesting that will be the case. The Tomatometer is currently sitting at 96% with more than 70 write-ups of the film posted online. This one is falling right in line with the previous two movies, and I'm not predicting a lot of movement over the course of the week.

It was another successful week for the Rotten Watch last time around, with two of the three movies falling within range of the prediction. Robert Rodriguez's Alita: Battle Angel (Predicted: 59% Actual: 60%) didnt knock anyones socks off, but it wasnt a disaster either from a critical perspective. This is the score you could kind of see coming from some of the earlier reviews and the way the tide was turning. Its something of a groundbreaking movie from a cinematic and visual perspective, but, according to critics, the story didnt exactly keep up the pace.

Meanwhile, Happy Death Day 2U (Predicted: 55% Actual: 67%) could very well end up a predictive win with a little more time and just two more negative reviews. That being said, the follow up to the slasher take on Groundhog Day once again landed with critics. It finished well into the "Fresh" realm, which is kind of shocking considering the premise. But thats what happens when you just make a solid movie.

Finally, Isnt it Romantic (Predicted: 67% Actual: 68%) was another near-direct hit. The rom-com send up finished well with critics, with writers generally enjoying the tongue-in-cheek approach to the typical romance narrative. Most agreed that Rebel Wilson carried the flick even through its slower moments. It doesn't sound like it's a great film by any stretch, but it was warmly received overall.

Following its $420 million+ worldwide box office earnings and whopping eight Oscars nominations, A Star is Born has a lot to celebrate. The film has become one of the buzziest films of awards season, largely thanks to the talent of Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga and Sam Elliotts work on the musical drama. Amidst the starry-eyed success, Elliott was surrounded by devastation. In his words:

At the same time, all this stuff was going on with A Star is Born, all the screenings, all the Q&As, all the awards shows, that fucking fire came over the top of us in Malibu. We stayed, and poured the water on, and watched the guy next door burn to the ground. And then the floods came, or the rains came, and the shit came on the highways. You know, there were times right after the fire, when the coast highway was shut down, and I was trying to get through the roadblocks with a fucking tuxedo on, coming back from some event in town. The two juxtaposing each other was a weird thing. Its still very present out there.

Wow, thats intense! In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sam Elliott spoke out about how the Woolsey Fire that swept across Southern Californias Malibu in November affected his and his wife Katharine Ross home, which was almost destroyed. Its crazy to imagine promoting a glitzy film such as A Star is Born while dealing with the emotional tragedy that brushed through his neck of the woods. It certainly couldnt have been easy.

Sam Elliott said while much of Malibu is covered in green now, a lot was lost in the Woolsey Fire and its going to be a long time before it goes back to how it was. Thousands of homes were burned during the wildfire, including the homes of Gerard Butler, Miley Cyrus and Neil Young, along with The Bachelor mansion from the ABC show and sets used for HBOs Westworld.

As Malibu begins to pick up its feet, Sam Elliott can celebrate his first Oscar nomination ever for Best Supporting Actor, among the many nominations the Bradley Cooper film has received nods for, including for Best Picture and Best Original Song for Shallow." The actor has been performing for 50 years and known best for his roles in Road House, Tombstone and The Hero, to name a few.

The actor was particularly a highlight in A Star is Born as Jackson Maines older brother and manager, who says the films most memorable lines about 12 notes (if you know, you know). In terms of the Oscars race, Elliott shares the category with Green Books Mahershala Ali, who has overwhelmingly been the favorite during award season.

Sean Penn recently penned an essay about his disappointment how he thinks A Star is Born isnt being recognized enough as other nominees such as Bohemian Rhapsody and Green Book have been elevated in conversation. Why Captain America Didn't Die In Avengers: Endgame

People knew going into Avengers: Endgame that beloved characters would die. Iron Man and Black Widow were the major deaths of the film (on the hero side), but some fans were pleasantly surprised to find that Captain America survives the whole movie. Of course, the shocker is that he's an old man now, but Cap still got an unexpected happy ending. Ultimately, the filmmakers decided that killing three main characters was just too depressing to handle.

More than a few fans shed tears before the credits rolled in Endgame. Both Tony Stark and Natasha sacrifice themselves so that the rest of the universe can live on, with Tony's funeral serving as arguably the most tear-jerking moment in the entire movie. By that point in the film, viewers were probably pretty emotionally drained, so imagine if on top of all of that Steve Rogers had died as well.

That's a bummer! That's just emotional abuse at that point, and the directors knew to avoid that. In an interview with Empire, Joe Russo said that killing Captain America was just a step too far in an already emotional ending.

Once you kill a beloved character like [Tony], you've got to have hope at the end of the movie in some regard, and the only person to give you that hope is the other co-lead. Had we killed both the leads, I feel like people would have been walking out into traffic after the film. The intention is not to destroy people, it's to hopefully tell a complex and dimensionalised story in a way, that makes them feel a varied range of emotion.

Captain America's whole thing is about holding on to hope, so it certainly makes sense that he had to be the one to live at the end. Killing both Iron Man and Cap would have been a tough pill to swallow, and while both of them are off of the board now, it's not as depressing as it could have been.

Of course, Cap still gets an emotional ending, just one that produces happy tears as opposed to sad ones. Steve gets to live happily after ever with Peggy Carter, and it closes his character arc in an extremely satisfying way. While he's still alive as an old man, he likely isn't showing up in the MCU again anytime soon, so his ending is still a finale.

There are lots of movies out in theaters right now, but I bet that you can still find Avengers: Endgame playing in some locations if you wanted to enjoy the film one more time. The real question this news raises is how does Fast and Furious 9 bring back Mia in a way that doesn't highlight the absence of Brian or make it seem odd and illogical that he isn't there.
