Avengers: Endgame Theory Ties Spider-Man: Far From Home Timeline To Infinity War Bus
Spider-Man may have died in Avengers: Infinity War but that's not stopping him from getting a sequel. Spider-Man: Far From Home debuted new footage earlier this week and it didn't address the Thanos in the room. Fans are trying to figure out how the sequel connects to Avengers: Endgame, and one fan believes they may have cracked the case. The fan posted that the events of Infinity War will be erased, meaning that Spidey never got off the school bus.
OK, here we go. Feige told the truth, Far From Home is set right after the events of Endgame. But, what if there IS an 'unsnap' in Endgame, one that doesn't just see everyone undusted, but that, through the use of the Infinity Stones themselves, resets the world to a point where Thanos never attacked Earth at all, erasing the attack, decimation, and everyone's memories of it. This explains why Peter has the original Stark suit in the FFH trailer, as opposed to the Iron Spider suit. Attack never happened, so Peter never got off the bus on his way back from the field trip to the Museum Of Modern Art. As such, he never got the Iron Spider suit.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said that Far From Home takes place right after Avengers: Endgame. The Avengers sequel is wrapped in secrecy and people can only speculate as to how the Avengers defeat Thanos and reverse his universe-wiping snap. One popular theory is that the events of Infinity War -- and everyone's memory of it -- will be erased, and one fan draws a line to Far From Home.
Posting to Reddit, one fan believes that Far From Home does technically take place after Endgame, but no one will remember it ever happened. So, Spider-Man will have never gone to save a wizard, fight aliens, or get the Iron Spider suit, which explains why he doesn't use it in Far From Home. Peter just continues his school trip and is free to go to Europe.
It's as possible as anything right now, but I think an ending like that for Endgame would be pretty divisive. If no one remembers those Avengers movies, then what was the point of them? The fan theorist argues that this actually works in favor of Endgame.
Adds a nice bit of foreshadowing to Thanos telling Tony 'I hope they remember you', even more so if it's Tony's sacrifice that makes the 'unsnap' possible. Not to mention, a relationship with Happy and May only happens in a world where Tony isn't around. ;) It introduces one of those classic time-travel tropes to Endgame... "If you're successful, the only one who will remember any of this, is you."
I don't think I'd be very happy with a time travel ending like that, but finales are usually divisive. We'll have to reserve our judgment until Avengers: Endgame arrives on April 26, 2019. To learn more about the movie, here's everything we know so far.
