Fast And Furious Stars Honor Paul Walker On 5th Anniversary Of His Death
Five years ago, Paul Walker unexpectedly and tragically passed away in a car accident. Walker's friends, family, and fans mourned his passing, and his Fast and Furious character Brian was peacefully retired in Furious 7. Now, a documentary about his life and career has been released, and his Fast and Furious co-stars paid tribute on social media. Here's what Vin Diesel posted on the anniversary of Walker's death:
Vin Diesel may be the face of the Fast and Furious franchise, but it was widely considered that he and Paul Walker were the two leads. Their friendship and brotherhood grew on screen, just as it did in real life, and you can imagine that Walker's death hit Diesel hard. The actor took to his Instagram to pay tribute to Walker, simply and effectively writing "Always..."
Paul Walker's Fast and Furious co-stars joined in paying tribute to the actor. Like Diesel, Jordana Brewster joined the franchise at the same time as Walker as his love interest and eventual wife, Mia. The two of them were closely tied together through the movies, and Brewster posted her own message on the five year anniversary of Walker's death.
Tyrese Gibson joined the franchise in the sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious as Roman Pearce, a childhood friend of Walker's character. The two characters were good friends in the films, though Roman is mostly associated with Tej, Ludacris' character. Gibson posted a lengthy tribute to Walker on social media, writing about how real Walker's tragedy still feels five years later.
Paul Walker's character in the Fast and Furious films got to ride off into the sunset, and the movies have since continued to press onward. Walker's brothers Caleb and Cody stepped in as stand-ins to help complete filming of Furious 7, and they have expressed a desire to return as Brian in a future movie to give him one final send-off before the franchise wraps.
